Robert Service School: Inspiring Change – at home and at school

Grade 3 started the school wide composting effort. This has led to a Garbage Free School program. We sort garbage bags from our refuse bin to analyze our performance. We started in September, 2009. We monitor our impact by watching the refuse container. The image below shows the refuse container 1/2 empty. The compost is equal to the garbage. Imagine the container full back in September with garbage, recycling and compost!

We partner with the Recycling Centre. We volunteer at events. We ensure that our coffee house music events have a garbage free concession. It's easy!

We also co-wrote a song called "Compost Rocks" with Steve Slade. Check out the song at www.petermenzies.podomatic.com.

Grade 10 created the marketing program for the High School. They developed the "CRAP" slogan.
