Jack Hulland Elementary: Eco-Challenge for Primary Students

Teacher: Cathy Hines
Grade: 3

Project details

During the Earth Week competition, Ms. Hines' class did the following:

  • Participated in the Lights Off activity and tracked their energy use over a 2-week period.
  • Used the posters and tracked and measured their classroom waste.
  • Created beautiful Eco-Bookmarks on the environment.
  • Completed the What's on at Home activity and students tracked on their student worksheets what was on at home on a normal day, and what was on when they tried to conserve.
  • Students worked with their families and answered questions about how they can conserve more at home. They completed the Conservation in my home activity with worksheets.
  • Created Eco-Magnets to take home and put on the fridge as a way to remind them to protect the environment.
  • Made a list of good ideas they could each do to conserve energy and reduce waste.
