Holy Family Elementary: Be Energy Wise!

Teacher: Mrs. Knickle
Grade: Kindergarten

Whitehorse is a large town, the capital of the Yukon. Whitehorse was named for the rapids on the Yukon River that used to look like the mane of a white horse. There is a dam on that part of the river which harnesses the energy to supply many northern places with power. We know that if we don't conserve power that diesel generators need to be used. This is not a healthy option for a world concerned with climate change.

Project details

We enjoyed a good workshop about conserving energy in our homes and school. We made posters to put up in our school to help others think about how we can be more 'Energy Wise'.

We learned that each person or family can do a lot to help conserve energy. We learned how pollution can harm the delicate "skin" that keeps Earth from heating up.
