You may already know this, but the majority of your body is made up of water – over sixty percent of you, in fact. It is in every bit of you, down to each and every cell. Second only to oxygen, water is one of the most important things that your body needs, as it is involved in almost every process you perform naturally – from respiration to waste management.

Your body’s water level is constantly changing, as you emit water every day through sweat and breathing, and this is highlighted during exercise. The more active you are, the more water your body loses. This can pose a threat to you, as you run the risk of dehydration and doing damage to yourself. The harder and longer you work out, the more H2O your body loses.

The good news is that this is relatively easy to handle. Start your workout well-hydrated, and drink around fifteen to twenty fluid ounces of water at least fifteen minutes before you begin. You can even drink water during your session – about four to eight ounces for every fifteen to twenty minutes you’re working out – to maintain endurance and to keep your water level in good condition. When you are done with your rowing machine, have at least one glass of water to replenish any that you shed during exercise – more depending on how long you worked out for and the intensity of your activity.

By keeping your body hydrated, you’ll be protecting your body from the rigors of exercise and making sure that your workout does you the most possible good.
